Spring hair growth secrets

Spring is one of the best times to focus on hair growth. You want to find a routine that you can rely on for a few months before it gets cold again, depending on where you live, of course. If you want to know how to grow hair longer this spring, remember that it takes a consistent approach. You can’t expect any change if you’re not willing to keep up with it!

General hair care tips like not washing too often and brushing lightly always apply. That stuff never needs to change. However, there are a few elements of long hair growth that are especially important during the spring. Here are three:

Essential Oils

In truth, essential oils are great anytime of the year, but the smell of many of them definitely have a springtime feel. And what’s more important, they’re one of our favorite hair growth secrets to see your hair reach its full potential.

If you’ve never used essential oils before, you’re in for a treat. Using essential oils is one of the best all-natural ways to increase the blood circulation on your scalp. Your hair follicles don’t go very deep, so they can easily be stimulated with the right substances. Essential oils not only improve circulation, they can clean out your pores and create optimal growth. They’ll let your hair strands do their thing.

This spring, we recommend trying out a more floral, herbal oil like lavender or peppermint. Just massage a small amount into your hair once a week to feel the effects. You can also add essential oils to your shampoo. Your hair and scalp will feel alive!

Diet

You’ve heard it a million times, but it’s worth hearing again: when it comes to hair growth, do not ignore your diet. Getting those long, gorgeous locks this spring won’t happen unless you’re getting the right nutrients.

Here are a few of the most important nutrients:

  • Iron – Helps carry oxygen to your body’s cells. All of them — including your hair follicles. Get your fill of red meat at the barbeques to get your iron. Fortified grains, beans, and leafy greens are great sources as well.
  • Protein – Your hair is made up almost completely of protein. Makes sense then that you should eat a good amount of it. Salmon is one of the best sources of protein since it also contains omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for overall health.

There are a few others that you should include like vitamin A, vitamin E and biotin, but if you want to make it easy on yourself, find yourself a good daily vitamin that has many of them. Much easier than researching every food you eat.

Step Up Your Conditioner

A good spring conditioner is light enough to handle warmer temperatures, but strong enough to protect your hair from the sun. You might not realize it, but your conditioner can have a real effect on how well your hair grows over the next few months. While your hair gets used to the warmer weather, it’s especially important to keep it well-moisturized.

Regardless of the season, the conditioner you use depends on your hair type. Here are the three types:

  • Fine – You’ll want a volumizing conditioner that adds a bit of texture. Make sure to find a formula that isn’t too heavy, as you still want your hair to be light and airy for the spring.
  • Wavy – Make sure to keep it light this spring. A lighter conditioner with good moisturizing ingredients will prevent frizzy hair. Something everyone can appreciate.
  • Curly – It can get pretty dry in the spring, so focus on finding an hydrating deep conditioner.

Maintain a consistent schedule for conditioning your hair. Even on days when you don’t shampoo your hair, it can still be a good idea to wash with conditioner to maintain a nice level of moisture.

Growing your hair this spring does not have to be too different from any other time of the year. Really, spring just gives you the chance to have fun with different scents and products. Stay consistent, and these hair growth secrets will produce results.
